This course is for students who have a background in drawing, but who are new to painting .
Students will learn to transition from black and white drawing to color painting using the traditional academic practice of grisaille. Grisaille roughly translates to: "done in grays", and is the discipline of painting entirely in shades of gray. Traditionally, learning to paint in grissaille was a standard step in an art students education, to ease them from drawing into the often confusing world of paint and color. Students will also be introduced to the basics of color theory, providing a solid start in painting. This course is recommended for both beginners, and those wanting to improve and refresh their current abilities. For those who feel they might not have sufficient experience in drawing, our Drawing Foundation course is recommended before taking this class. |
