Hipbone Atelier:

Tuesdays
3:30 to 5:30 pm
we are offering brand new open studio sessions this year we are calling Hipbone Atelier.
It’s a chance to regularly practice drawing and/or painting skills in the company of peers, and artists at the studio. These will be 2 hour Drop-In sessions, and sessions will be free initially. This will be a lot like our regular Hipbone Drawing sessions but without the live models, instead artists can work at their own pace in a number of ways, some which were traditionally taught in art academies. |
Master Copies
Copying master drawings and paintings has been done by art students for centuries,
and is one of the most effective ways to really understand the intricacies that go into creating a work.Using large monitors allows us make this learning process even
clearer and more effective in the classroom.
Anatomical Study
Anatomy is of course critical in learning to draw the human figure, students will be using our anatomical skeleton replica to draw and learn about the skeletal system, We will also use monitors and 3d generated images in learning.
Sculptures and Casts
Drawing from casts has a long tradition in training artists and really helps guide students in understanding light and shadow, and helps with the transition from drawing into painting.
Still Lifes
Still lifes are a genre onto themselves but are fantastic learning tool that familiarizes students with all the fundamentals of traditional 2D art making.
Personal Projects
Students have their own ideas for drawings and paintings, but often the boost of the studio environment Is whats needed to get things moving.
Instruction
A Hipbone artist will offer instruction, tips, demonstrations, and be available for questions.
