The ability to draw has always been the most important skill art students must acquire, Even today with the prevalence of digital illustration, game design and cgi animation, knowing and understanding the basics of traditional drawing is still just as important . This beginning level course follows a clear step by step approach in presenting the essential elements and principles of drawing. Students will be learning the importance of light and shadow, drawing accuracy and proportion, line, value, tone, negative space, perspective and the basics of composition, Also learning to asses and critically judge their own work to further improve their skills . All the while analyzing and learning from the great artists throughout history. Students will be working mainly in black and white and monochrome, beginning with still life setups, and even from a live model. A great first course that can be applied to all branches of the visual arts.
No previous experience in drawing or art is necessary only a strong willingness to learn. |

Figure drawing has been a key element in the training of visual artists for centuries, and continues to be a vital part of an arts education. Whether its, animation, game design, comics, Illustration or the fine arts, drawing the human form from life is a must This course is designed for students who wish to improve they’re figurative skills for college, and can also serve as a solid introduction for those that are brand new to life drawing.
A typical day begins with an hour of instruction followed by 3 hours of live drawing from a nude model. starting with quick sketches and into finished work. A strong emphasis will be placed on anatomy, structure, proportion, volume and gesture. The accurate and expressive use of line and tone are also addressed to provide a focus for increasing students skill. Two instructors will be present at all times, helping to guide and answer any questions students may have. Each day will conclude with a review of the days work and individual progress. Materials will include charcoal chalk and pencils, and a variety of paper. |
From Drawing

This course is for students that have a background in drawing, but little to no painting experience.
Students will learn how to transition from black and white drawing to color painting using the traditional academic practice of grisaille. Grisaille roughly translates as "done in grays" and is the disciple of painting entirely in shades of gray. Traditionally, learning to paint in grissaille was a key step in a students art education, helping to ease them from drawing, into the often confusing world of paint and color. Students will also be introduced to the basics of color theory to help them get a solid start in painting. This course is recommended for both beginners and those wanting to improve and develop their current abilities. For those that feel they might not have sufficient experience in drawing, our drawing foundation course is recommended before taking this class. |
Graphic Novel and

Students will Investigate visual storytelling through the contemporary art forms of comics and graphic novels. This course introduces a variety of illustrative approaches, such as writing, storyboarding, penciling, inking/coloring, and with a diverse exploration of materials including pencil, pen, ink, and collage. Building on this foundation, students learn through projects that examine narrative structures, material choices, and the integration of text and image. Students are introduced to contemporary artists, illustrators, and designers that transcend the traditional approaches of comics and graphic novels to generate their own audiences
