Portrait/Head Sculpture Workshop
Instructed Class, Saturday, Feb. 8th, 2025 2pm to 6:30pm

We are very excited to announce an instructed portrait and head sculpting workshop  at Hipbone Studio.
This one day workshop will be taught by Gabriella Gray, a sculptor and model maker most recently with Laika Animation Studios in Portland and assisted by Rodrigo Avila from Hipbone .
This is a beginners  introductory class, geared toward students with little or no sculpting experience, but can also serve as a great refresher course for more experienced 3d and 2d artists.  All materials and model fees are covered by the tuition price.
Students will begin by making a solid armature for the head then building it up with plasticine and getting it ready for the sculpting process.  After a short break Rodrigo will give a short presentation on proportions of the head, anatomy and structure 
and some guidelines for getting a likeness. Students will then be sculpting from
a live model for the rest of the class.
Students will be able to get photo reference from the model and keep the portrait armatures and busts to continue work at home.
Price for the workshop is  $75 and includes all materials and model fees.
As always, students are encouraged to tip the model.
