Painting the Head with a Limited Palette

Appropriate for beginning and intermediate oil painters.
This foundational class is intended for those who want to explore oil painting or refresh their skills. It is an ideal way to try out oil painting without investing in all the supplies. Mike Sowers has taught at Hipbone previously but with more limited color options such as the Zorn 4 color palette. We will expand to include yellow, red, blue and burnt umber plus white, a very workable grouping that can be used for all subject matter, such as still life & landscape. 
What is Provided with Class: Paint, solvent, canvas, knives, palettes and brushes (you may also bring your own).
Will I get personal instruction?: You will receive feedback on your work both in class and after class if you request. Format: The first week’s 2 classes will focus on color mixing, drawing then painting the head monochromatically progressing to color from photo references provided. The second week’s 2 sessions will include a single color study and full color painting of a model. The model fee is included in registration but a tip for the model is requested for photo references |
