New Workshop
Sketching the Figure in Oil Sept. 21st, 24th, 28th and Oct. 1st 2026 (Mondays & Thursdays) 6:00 to 9;00 PM at Hipbone Art Studio. 4 Classes - in person series. $220 for series. Instructor: Mike Sowers Over 4 evenings starting September 21, Hipbone Art Studio and Mike Sowers will be offering a foundational class focused on rendering the figure with 3 colors. The emphasis will be on learning how to translate your figure drawing skills first to a proportional line drawing, then to recognizing shadow shapes and finally adding warms and cool light earth tones. The class does not require oil painting experience, though comfort in figure drawing is necessary. All supplies will be provided Including brushes, paint, palette, knives, solvent and canvas sheets. You are welcome to bring your own supplies and a detailed list will be provided upon request. The cost is $220 with a $50 deposit payable to Hipbone to guarantee your spot. The first session will be 6 - 9pm Monday Sept 21 with the second the following Thursday Sept 24. The Third session (same start and end time) is Monday Sept 28 with final class Oct 1.
