An introduction to drawing realistic portraits both from life and photographs. Using traditional and contemporary studio methods, students will focus on capturing the ever elusive likeness, which is the essence of portraiture. A strong emphasis will be placed on understanding light and shadow, anatomy and structure of the head, and basics of composition. We will be working mostly in black and white using charcoal and pencil as our primary media but color will be introduced as the week progresses. A great fundamentals class that can be applied to traditional and digital work, for beginning and experienced students. Price includes all materials and model fees.
